chattanooga, tn | july 2013

aquariums are such inspiring spaces. winding footpaths, vast amounts of water...sharks. i don't think  the giddy feeling i get when entering the dark, cool environment, that awesome anticipation, will ever leave.

resolution for 2013/early 2014: swim with the gentle giants at the georgia aquarium...whale sharks and manta rays!

MATURITY

the apartment is finally starting to come together...chalkboard penis drawings and all...here are some of the latest additions:

  1. chalkboard - ikea strรถmby frame in silver ($19.99) & disney chalkboard paint ($10.97) - i painted 3 coats of chalkboard paint directly onto the glass (which was unfortunately removable so i had to tape off the brushed metal frame) - this board is HUGE and cost about 1/3 less than a ready-to-use chalkboard
  2. key ring holder - areaware grab hand hook by harry allen ($65.00) - this thing is awesome - the designer cast his hand in several different positions and the detail is insane - pores! pores!pope
not mentioned - signed chris osgood photo in umbra infinity frame, popebobblehead - jordan picked this up from the vatican--ollie does not like it

NAIL OF THE DAY - A BUTTERFLY MOMENT

WHAT'S IN MY MAKEUP BAG

while i was in the process of moving apartments, i decided to consolidate all of my 'everyday' makeup into one place so i was never without an essential product. to make things easy, i threw my daily routine into a sturdy plastic bag from a shoe store in barcelona. my new place lacked adequate makeup storage, so i never really changed-up my less-than-desirable "bag" situation until this past december when i was visiting ny/nj/home for christmas and picked up a henri bendel weekender bag ($70). i liked that it would allow me to separate out my face products from my eye products while also providing a small spot for a few lipsticks and my nail polish of the moment for emergency touch-ups.

i happily lug the products listed below with my everywhere i go. they allow for a flawless complexion and several go-to eye looks.

what products do you need to have at-the-ready?

WEEKEND GOODIES

so many fun purchases things this weekend!

1. savannah bee company beeswax hand cream - my good fried, nick was down in savannah and knows my love for rich hand creams. this stuff smells devine and has the consistency of cooler-than-room-temperature butter. i'll be buying more of this when i'm in savannah for easter.
2. trapp fragrances perfumed votive candle in no. 45 burmese wood - picked this up at no mas cantina before a tequila tastings--smells like a delicious man.
3. trapp fragrances private gardens home fragrance oil in no. 27 macintosh - i wish this would linger a bit more, but it definitely smells like a juicy bushel of fresh apples upon first spray
4. opi nail lacquer in a butterfly moment - quite possibly the prettiest shimmery pinky nude...kind of sad it had to come from the mariah carey collection
5. the optimist oyster bar swag - koozies (free with every canned beer) and keys from esquire magazine's best new restaurant of 2012...that just so happens to be a few paces from my apartment

FAVORITE HOT PINKS

after a far-too-short weekend of tequila tastings, oysters, and dear friends, i'm back to discuss my favorite accessory of all time - hot pink and fuchsia lips!

FAVORITE HOT PINKS - PREVIEW

it will come to no surprise to those i know that pinks leaning fuchsia are my hands-down favorite lip color to wear--the bolder, the better. i knew this little baby pictured above was arriving today, so last night, i gathered what i could to compare. they are sprinkled about my handbag, various coat pockets and a rickety chanel box. i'll follow up tomorrow with a comprehensive look at some of my favorites.
